"Rods were as expected."

As a hobby welder, this was perfect for me. Bottom line if you are in the market for a arc welder, buy it! Construction is strong & feels like the kind of thing that will last years. I have a small machine shop and build tooling often. The portability is outstanding.

"All heavy duty."

As a hobby welder, this was perfect for me. I always wonder if I could weld anything and it worked. I would not say it is a big deal, I can make pretty welds. Starting the arc is always the tricky part of stick welding. Does make a nice puddle and slags reasonably well.
