Top 10 Best 5 Inch Disc Sanders

What Real People Are Saying About The BLACK+DECKER BDERO100

Very pleased, main tool for finishing the project

UPDATE 1 YEAR: still great! After the table I used it for tens of jobs but the most important ones: car roof stripping and repainting, fence sanding, two doors and an uneven drywall. No problem so far whatsoever :)

I bought this sander specifically for a project that involved refinishing a 1910 table and this little guy was the key to the whole project.
In the video I was using 60 grit sandpaper, as the table had some bad stains but the sander is so efficient that it literally takes minutes to strip the finish off a table (with 40 or 60 grit sandpaper). I had to be careful as you can easily get carried away and sand too much.
- a lot quieter than I expected (compared to my father in law's older one)
- I used it a lot during a day and it didn't heat up almost at all
- very comfortable to work with
- the dust extraction is very efficient
- I was able to do corners, although I thought I would have to do them manually (you just have to find the right angle to hold it)
- the price is really amazing :)
- none so far

Update: 2 years later and a ton of heavy duty use later, this thing is still kicking. I use this on average 2 hours a week of sanding fiberglass and carbon fiber. That stuff is not nice to motors. But this is still doing fine and the Velcro pad is even on great condition. I would have spend $100 on this product, but happily only paid $30. I also beat the heck out of this. It is not babied or well cared for. I chuck it in my tool box at the end of the day and it takes all the abuse.

For the price, I’m amazed this thing is still running. I purchased this 8 months ago and used it for a fiberglass rowing boat restoration. Sanding down paint and old fiberglass, sanding new fiberglass repairs down, prepping the whole shell for paint, and I just started another fiberglass/carbon fiber repair and it’s STILL working great. On a prior project, my much more expensive craftsman orbital’s motor died and couldn’t take the carbon fiber. This sander has now made it through two glass projects. I’m stoked.

Works equally as good as the Dewalt orbital, this really feels good and has better dust collection.

I have been a big fan of dewalt tools, I have a mix of Black and Decker items like my firestorm chop saw and it works very well and it over 10 years old, so when I was looking for a new sander I thought I'd try out the Black and Decker orbital. In todays world I already have a dewalt and it works well but I wanted a new one.

I've attached pics of the black and decker along with my dewalt so you can see how they look. From a performance standpoint, the black and decker is a bit louder than the dewalt but the black and decker actually has a better dust collection process (at least in my testing.). Both sanders utilize the same size stick on sand paper pads that you can buy from your local stores. From a feel, both sanders are actually pretty good in the hand, they utilize a similar palm grip and cord location/power switch location so it's a tie.

If you wanted to get a sander and asked for my recommendation, I would say the black and decker is a really good option and at the time of writing this it's half the cost of the black and decker orbital. If you are brand loyal of course you will go with the brand you love, but I would say give Black and Decker a chance, this sander works just as well as my Dewalt.

Good homeowner sander

Good sander for good price. Great for the homeowner. Item is listed at having 5 amp capacity yet is only a 2 amp sander. Not a hinderence to use, but a misrepresentation.

great tool for the price!

wow great tool for the price!

I wasn't expecting much but this unit has decent power is not loud and works incredibly well for the price!
the bag does load up with dust very fast , you will know this because there will be dust everywhere so just keep on dumping it out every 10 mins and you are all good.

I dont know why so many people are nit picky about this sander its under $30.00! Just deal with it or spend 3 times this price and you wont have anything to complain about.

If you only need a orbital sander once in a while like me than this is a great deal and sure beats having to call around to borrow one all the time!
