Top 7 Best Ingersoll-Rand Sanders

What Real People Are Saying About The Ingersoll-Rand 311A

Nice but a bit on the heavy side.

It is well balanced for a DA(like a Hutchins)....Quiet too....You will need a compressor that runs at least
5 to 6 cfm's with a 30 gal tank...It (compressor) will be running while you work and put a lot of stress
on your compressor but you can get the job done with no problems....All DA's use a lot of air.
What I don't like is the is a heavy DA compared to others except maybe
the old Bluepoints from Snap-on. You can lay this on a panel and not have any jump
to where you have to lift up....So you get to use all of the paper. Even the center.

Wonderful sander, IF you have enough air.

I've used this DA sander much of the day for several days now. It is a pleasure to use, and does a great job. I am moving between an 80 gallon Curtis and a 60 gallon Husky, and keeping them both busy. This is the only air tool I've ever used that stressed the Curtis. Realize that you will only enjoy this tool if you have a fairly big compressor.

I used it for sanding down a car before painting (and some body work). It has worked like a Champ! It does use quite a bit of air but when you are using a finer grit sandpaper there is no need for all the power so you just turn down the air a bit with the built-in valve and it will use a lot less air and still get the job done.

Awesome Woodworking Sander when modified!

I bought two of these to replace the POS 2601 Ridgid 5" random orbital sanders. Since 2010 Ridgid Tools are built in a cheaper part of China and their sanders are complete crap. I am lucky to get three months use out of them before the motors burn up. Prior to 2010 their sanders would last at least two years in our woodshop and could hold up to the heavy use and abuse of my students.

Anyway it came as a 6" sander but I trimmed 1" off the padded disk to make it a 5" one. I then attached 4" wide velcro strip so we can affix our H&L 5" sand paper. The students are using them to sand their end-grain cutting board/butch blocks. The sanders holding up well and look to be a prefect replacement for the now sad Ridgid 5" sanders.

Great tool

I purchased this sander for finishing and refinishing projects. Good quality. Quiet. My 30 gallon compressor can't keep up with it. 60 gallon or large is needed to operate this tool

The Ingersoll-Rand 311A was really our favorite Ingersoll-Rand Sanders. That being said, there were several other truly premium Ingersoll-Rand Sanders worth showcasing here that barely missed the mark.

Ingersoll-Rand is an additional major producer of Sanders. They build the tool next up on our lineup. Ingersoll-Rand's Straight Line Sanders are also top quality. I was excited to try the model 315 and I was not let down!

The model 315 Straight Line Sander by Ingersoll-Rand, at $97.72 is a particularly exceptional Sander for the money. The Ingersoll-Rand 315 is definitely a sound option. Of you are not sure about our top choice, I'd advise to choose this Sander.
