Top 10 Best TACKLIFE Sanders

What Real People Are Saying About The TACKLIFE PRS01A

Speeds up DIY projects

I do a lot of DIY projects, and though I had always used sandpaper manually, it was time for me to look into automated sanders to help with the larger items I was building. At the same time, I did not want to spend a fortune before I knew whether or not one would be used often enough. So, I bought this one before I would spend more on brand-name, professional-grade sanders.

To my surprise, this sander works very well, definitely has been speeding up my projects, and feels like it has been made of good quality. With that said, since this is a brand I had never heard of before, once it breaks, I will probably be buying a brand-name sander unless this one lasts for years. Only time will tell, but so far I am pleasantly surprised and happy with it.

Well built & does the job!

I was looking for a sander to sand a door that needed to be repainted. This sander did the job. It is well built and didn't rip into the project but instead took off layer after layer for a smooth finish to be ready to paint again. I am somewhat of a perfectionist and it left me pleased with the results. It was also easy to control. Although I am not using it professionally, it has been perfect for my jobs around the house.

Very Impressed For The Money

I purchased this orbital sander for two specific projects.... to re-do our stair case (which is white oak) and then, refinish our corian counter tops. Well, so far I have been working on the stairs and this sander has worked fantastically ... it has done everything I have needed it to do. The oak was stained a golden color and then had a number of polyurethane coats on it. Using # 40 grit I was able to take down the finish and stain so that it exposed the raw wood as I had hoped for. I now just have to do the 120 grit and then begin re-staining. Not an easy project by any means but it would have been impossible without a good orbital sander.

The only issue I have is removing the plastic dust catcher on the back side of the sander. Its hard to get off and then even harder to open the dust box to dispose of the dust. Speaking of the dust, after much research, I have read and seen (on YouTube) where all of these sanders will only capture about 20% - 25% of the dust. I would agree with that assessment. Just be prepared to have a house full of dust! That said, the important thing is that this works without any issues... and its easy to operate. I would recommend it highly.

Great For Basic Sanding, Dust Collecter Irritating

Overall, this is a great little sander. I had a large sanding project, pre-sanding deck boards and posts before pre-staining. A fair bit of the wood was in rather rough condition, and I didn’t want it to look that bad. It had to at lease be barefoot safe, and cedar posts all come very rough and need to be sanded, no matter what. So, I had to load up with everything from 40 grit to 80 grit, (you don’t want higher than that for proper stain absorption), and get sanding the piles of boards.

Now, I already have a DeWalt sander. I do so much sanding, I actually wore out my first Dewalt years ago,
and got another one. It’s a great sander. I got this one because I needed a helper to get through the monuments task. . The sanding job was far too big to do alone, and I really didn’t want to spend a lot of money on something I didn’t need long-term. However, this held up and did just as well as the DeWalt as far as actual sanding. The difference is the switches turn on the opposite direction, no big deal and actually a plus when using both at once (mirror motion), and there’s just a very slight bit of difference in the smoothness, but not even remotely worth the price difference, and the only way of noticing the difference is to actually have one in each hand and use them both at the same time. When I did not have help around, I used them both together to expedite the process. It held up and kept up with the DeWalt. I’ve seen a complaint about a short cord, it’s the same length as the DeWalt. I used extension cords, most people do when they’re using power tools, unless it’s their table saw or chopsaw plugged into the wall.

The only downside is the aggravating dust collector. I like the push and turn removal of the DeWalt bag, this collector is hard plastic, which at the outset seems like a good idea, seems like it would contain better than the fabric bag, but it does not come up easily. It’s an aggravating fight to get it off, and irritating to get the dust out of it looking and shaking at it. If I had had a shop vac or something handy (I kill those off with so much use as well), I’d maybe have tried to hook it up to a vacuum hose. That probably would been irritating for function, since the boards were very long, and there was a lot of movement in this sanding job, rather than what one would do in just a single workpiece like furniture or something. It worked best to just have one person at each end of the long board and sand towards each other in the center, rotating the board to the next side as we went along.

So, the dust collection thing wouldn’t be as big an issue if you’re not trying to constantly empty it, but for overall performance otherwise, no complaints at all, and a good deal for the cost. Choosing quality sandpaper is a big deal; I got various types and various grits as needed, and one brand had a really great surface, durable and rough to get the posts down quickly to be able to switch to a higher grit, but...the hook side was horrible, so it was a crapshoot as to whether they’d stay on at all. I say this because if you aren’t happy with how fast your sanding project is going, it’s your sandpaper, not the sander. When I got a different kind, same grit, but just actually stayed on the sander, of course it went much more quickly.

it can handle the small jobs

for me, it was awkward to hold and press the off/on button at the same time. I do have arthritis in my thumb so maybe that had something to do with the awkwardness but I don't think so. I had removed a cabinet and wanted to sand down some old vinyl paint that had created a border around said space. I'm talking maybe 2 feet of paint less than a quarter of an inch thick, are you following me? I flattened the area, zipping through 4 (FOUR) pieces of sandpaper. So yeah, you get free sandpaper with the purchase but top quality the sand paper is not. The black/orange design is kinda reminding me of a Black and Decker.. like the colors are identical. Anyway, for the price paid, I'm okay with it. But if I had a heavy duty project to do, I'd buy a Black and Decker.
