Top 5 Best TECCPO Sanders

What Real People Are Saying About The TECCPO TARS23P

Success depends on the type of material you plan to sand

My stainless steel coffee table got a little rusty after the clear coat wore off in some areas. It's heavy, and I hated the thought of buying an electric sander, dragging the table outside, and making tons of noise. So I initially tried hand-sanding indoors with wet-dry paper.....which was fine until I stupidly lacquered the finished product with Minwax Polycrylic (water based)......The next day, I woke up to find the table covered in small rust blooms under the polycrylic! DOH!

So I bought this random orbit sander, lugged the table to the garage, and got to sanding. if you are a first-timer like me, your success depends on the material you'll be sanding, how much material you need to remove, and whether you'll be happy with a "brushed" look versus a mirror gloss. The original finish on my steel table was actually decorative swirls, but I decided I liked the "sandblasted" or "brushed" look that the random orbit sander gives you instead---it's kind of cool once you get past the ugly stage. You can see it in one of my attached close-up photos.

The sander is fairly easy to use--although you may want to watch a YouTube video first to see how to hold it and move it around. The power button is a bit of a pain to depress due to the rubber covering that protects it. The sanding discs wear out quickly, but that's to be expected. If you are sanding clear coat off metal, be prepared to change discs every 15-20 minutes or less. The disc may still feel like it has enough grit, but you'll be able to see it's not working effectively.

The dust collection bag is a bit of a joke. You'll see that dust still gets everywhere. A mask and eye protection are absolutely necessary. But its better than nothing. Bizarrely, the instructions say to NOT use the dust bag when sanding metal---which you can see in the attached image where I'm pointing. There's no explanation given for this. Another minor annoyance is the length of the power cord---it's roughly 6ft long, which seems a little short.

FYI---First-timers trying to sand away clear coat will need nerves of steel. This is because the surface has to look A LOT WORSE before it starts to look better. I almost had a heart attack a few minutes in when I saw random deep squiggly gouges suddenly appear on the table. At first, it seemed like the gouges would never disappear--but they eventually became less noticeable once more material was planed off. (You can see the attached photos of the alarming squiggles and deep swirling gouges!) For metal, using the 80 grit discs, it took an HOUR of sanding, changing discs every 20 mins or so. Could it be done it much faster/better? Sure, but this was my first time power sanding anything ever in my life, so frankly I think I deserve the Medal of Freedom.

Once you get everything down to the same plane, the visible swirls start fading, and the entire sheet of metal starts to look a lot more homogeneous. It's actually a cool pattern---it's a bit hard to photograph, but I tried to take a close-up. The final "brushed" or "sandblasted" look was fine for my purposes, so I saw no need to sand with progressively finer grits. I prefer the industrial look to a smooth glossy finish. It's a coffee table, not a telescope mirror. FYI--Clear enamel top coat is the way to go if you are doing something like a table!

As a final note, the unit is noticeably heavy. This works in your favor when you are sanding horizontally---since you are not supposed to press down hard, and are instead supposed to just let the sander use it's own weight. However, I have no idea how this might affect your sanding prospects if you were sanding a vertical surface, like a wall, or a curved surface.

I have never in my life used a sander.
I have some furniture I’ve wanted painted. I got some sandpaper originally, but that takes too much time.

This is an excellent little sander! It’s not super lightweight, but it does work good.
Remember it is round so it’s probably not best for furniture, or squared corners, but I figured it out. Lol some parts wasn’t sanded super well but i was able to paint it well!
If you line the holes up (the paper) it will catch the dusting. I didn’t even have to wear eyewear.

Good sander for small projects

I bought this sander a few weeks ago and didn't have a chance to use it until today. For a small, hand-held unit this thing is powerful. It is not excessively loud and for the small job I was working on, it went very quickly. The finished product was nice and smooth.

save your elbow grease

I went to work with this little sander the day it arrived. OH MY Golly!!!! It works like a dream and so easy for me to operate. My wife's wrists are not that strong so it being light weight is a plus. It made my touch up work on construction project go like a breeze ( and for the most part I do not like to sand for too hard and sores my hands) This little sander so impressed me I told a friend about it. They were getting ready to repaint living room & hall way with lots of touch up work to be done. Sanding too! They called me thanking me for the lead! They do not know what they would have done with out this little charm!
Thank You TECCPO. My wife loves it too. And everyone knows a happy wife equals a happy life

Works great.

I use it daily on wood projects. Easy to grip and control. Nice sander at a good price.
