Top 4 Best Blue Max Saws

What Real People Are Saying About The Blue Max 6595

If you're looking for a HUSQVARNA, they cost more.

Bought to replace a 20 yo McCullough, though I don't think this one will last as long. That said, I'm happy with it. Assembly directions are NOT clear, and the pictures are almost of no use. I didn't need them, but if I did I wouldn't have been happy. Make sure to push the chain brake ALL the way forward when you remove the side cover to install the bar. Started right up, hot or cold, though full throttle catch is not working. Felt heavy when I was assembling, but in use the weight was actually helpful. Bigger motor then my Mc, but not as powerful, but powerful enough to make short work of a 14" in dia. oak. Check your chain after about 10 decent cuts. Most of the stretching happens early. I think what will fail in the future is the chain adjuster. It's a great idea in concept, but I can see it seizing up if the saw sits for a long time. (Most wood chips will find their way there.) Also, the plastic sides don't seem like they will handle impact well... kinda thin and brittle feeling. Here's a tip when adjusting your bar and chain tension; 1. Loosen the two nuts enough that you can wiggle the bar up and down (not side to side). 2. With the saw sitting on a flat surface, lift the bar by it nose. 3. adjust your tension while continuing to hold the nose up (should be able to pull chain down at it's midpoint about 1/4" in) 4. Tighten the nuts while continuing to hold the nose up. Overall, after 3 large trees (oak, cherry, and maple), I'm a happy camper

Great saw for a homeowner or weekend user

I always do a lot of research before making a purchase like this. The reviews here on Amazon are so so for this chainsaw, but other professional review sites have given it generally favorable reviews (such as http://www.chainsawjournal.com/best-cheap-chainsaws-gas/). This isn't a saw for a professional landscaper or tree trimmer, but it's a good saw for a homeowner that will use it several times a year. So far I've used it twice, it always starts right up and the blade was very sharp right out of the box, which surprised me because some reviews complained about the blade. Assembly was not difficult. The instructions do leave something to be desired, but it you can't figure out how to put it together, you probably shouldn't be using a chainsaw.

I had two medium sized trees fall during a storm recently. At first I was going to call a professional to cut them up and haul off the brush leaving the rest behind for firewood. After much consideration and research, I ended up buying this chainsaw. Seriously, if it never started again and fell apart right now, I've already got my money's worth out of it.

Several reviews said you should mix the gas/oil at 25/1 vs 40/1. This chainsaw comes with a marked bottle to mix exactly one tank of gas at a time. It's pretty easy to just eyeball it add a bit more oil. Time will tell it it fouls out the spark plug faster, but it runs great with a bit more oil, there is hardly any smoke, and it has started very easily every time. Some reviews have said that it's hard to start when it's hot but I have not experienced this. I've shut it off several times while using it, only to start it right back up a minute later and it always starts with one or two pulls.

Be sure to check the tension on the chain after your first few cuts. The chain will stretch and get loose. I tightened it three times the first time I used it. Since then it's been fine.

As I said, this isn't for a professional, but for a homeowner with a basic knowledge of running a two-stroke motor, it's a fine saw. I see no reason why this saw shouldn't last several years with proper care.

Good chain saw

Good chain saw... I bought this to replace an echo. Same size as what I was replacing. A lot of customers reported the chain loosening. I too had that issue. Then I figured out how to prevent that from being a problem. One bar later, after readjusting the chain after sharpening pull up and tighten again. Once tight second time it doesn't seem to do this again. I replaced the bar and still had the same issues. But once I figured out that the bar had a tendency to drop which created the loose chain all was good. I even increased from an 18 to a larger bar And chain. Cuts like a champ.

I am very pleased and at this point would even consider purchasing another. I did have an issue with the choke mechanism come off. After dealing with customer service wanting pictures, I put it back on and super glued it in place. Otherwise it has worked without incident.

Oh as an after thought, I cut about 6 cords a year for heating so it definitely gets a work out.

Great for the $ 100%

Arizona based Landscaping company: We use other top name brand chainsaws daily for tree removals and trimming so this evaluation comes from a 19 year chainsaw veteran. We typically use 14, 18 and 20 inch bars for the size of wood we need to work thru. This Blue Max saw not only keeps up with the echos of the same CC size, but this doesn't heat up and lose power...which is something we see after prolonged use with the echos. The weight of this saw is noticeable during a long day of limbing, but the quicker cuts more than makes up for it! I recommend using the Ship as a Gift option...so amazon hides the contents :: I arrived at my front door to see a brand new Chainsaw in Box, in full view of anyone driving by>>>>a plain brown box would be a smart idea!

Use premix fuel and you will have a great cutting experience

Use premix fuel and you will have a great cutting experience. Seems this saw is demanding about that one thing. Cuts great and started with ease. used it for 5 hours with 2 hours cutting time with no problems. when storing place a tray under the engine, it leaks bar chain oil after a few days.
