Top 2 Best Tanaka Saws

What Real People Are Saying About The Tanaka TCS40EA18

Love the Tanaka!

I've had a Stihl MS290 for 9 or 10 years and it's given me great service, without a doubt. I've heated with nothing but wood and so the saw has worked hard and earned its keep, that's for sure. The old Stihl started showing its age recently, and I decided, just for the fun of it, to buy and try this Tanaka. Glad I did! As good as the Stihl has been over the years the Tanaka actually seems better, though it'll be quite some time until I find out if it holds up as well. I believe the Tanaka is heavier than the Stihl but it certainly feels lighter and it has noticeably more power. It also has a few features that I quite like--the decompression valve for easier starting, as well as the adjustable oiler and the primer bulb, to name a few. It's a great buy and I recommend it highly.

Great Quality Saw

Love this thing. Starts easily (but not first pull when cold). Quality is great. Comes with an Oregon bar and chain. Lots of power.

The first job was cutting down a 16" trunk tree. I was trying not to over heat (break in period) and didn't rev it up full but with a sharp chain and dry wood as the tree was dead, it breezed through with no problems.

The starting sequence took a little getting used to as it is different than other saws. 1. Pump primer bulb and set the choke. 2 squeeze the throttle once 3. pull the cord and don't touch the throttle. The choke sets the saw to high idol speed to warm it up. When stable then squeeze the throttle to release choke and run saw normally. Works.

This saw rocks!

My old Poulan finally gave up the ghost so I bought this puppy to replace it, I already own two other Tanaka products that have provided excellent service. After break-in and 3 tough cutting days on pin oak and Hedge I can say this saw is an animal! Running full chisel chains is no problem powerwise, starts are an easy half pull, and the anti-vibration system really takes the suck out of a full day of cutting... you can actually drive home without your hands being numb. 2 things I didn't care for, the cheap inefective "bark biter" device and the bar being very " flexy", but those can be fixed and the price and the killer warranty more than offset the flaws.

Worth every penny

No, it's not a Stihl but this thing costs less then I paid to have my Stihl serviced and and it has almost as much power (my Stihl is a pro model). Very happy with the purchase. Seems to be well made and durable - not cheap plastic. Starts very quickly usually after 2 pulls.

... that the cheap big box store chainsaws are not good long term investments

I've owned a lot of chainsaws over the years and came to realize that the cheap big box store chainsaws are not good long term investments. I've bought mostly Echo outdoor equipment for its 5 year consumer warranty and was surprised to see a 7 year consumer warranty for the Tanaka. While my Echo CS400 does a great job on small to medium trees, it's just not up to the task of getting thru the larger trees, especially the stumps. The Tanaka was easy to start and powers through the tree.

The Tanaka TCS40EA18 was our preferred Tanaka Saws. However, there were a range of other truly premium Tanaka Saws worth showcasing here that barely missed the mark.

Tanaka is another leading producer of Saws. They make the tool that is next on our list. Tanaka's Chainsaws are one of their top products. It was fantastic to test the TCS33EDTP/14. I was very pleased with this tool!

The model TCS33EDTP/14 Chainsaw by Tanaka, at $289.37 is a particularly excellent Saw for the price. The Tanaka TCS33EDTP/14 is truly a solid alternative. Of you are unsure about our number one choice, I would opt for this Saw.
